The Truth About Merchant Account Review Sites

Are you searching for a new merchant account?

Whether you are accepting credit cards for the first time or looking for a better deal, you need to be careful when researching the best providers online.

Why is that?

Because those review sites you find that list a number of companies are hiding a dirty little secret they don't want to find out about...

The Truth About Review Sites

As someone who runs an internet marketing business since 2007, the "review site" scam is an old technique dating back to 2002 or 2003.

It's misleading, to say the least.

Here's how it works...

Someone creates a site (or article) promising to "review" a product, or a number of products (or services). But what they don't tell you is that they are actually selling you the product or service being "reviewed."

Hence the scam.

Which is why the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) began cracking down on this practice (and a lot of other sleazy stuff online) back in 2008 (feel free to click the link for more info).

In case you're wondering, I am not a merchant account provider. Nor do I work for one. Nor do I recommend any specific company.

I'm just a guy who got ripped off a long time ago when I needed a merchant account for my marketing business. Then I did research online and got informed to protect myself and my clients. So now you know...

To summarize, there are three (3) basic problems with most (i.e. 99%) review sites:

  1. Sites are run by a merchant account provider (guess who's listed #1?)
  2. Most companies have 1000s of reps (even good companies have bad agents)
  3. Many smaller providers have better pricing than mega-companies listed on those sites

Now, we already discussed #1 above.

The second issue simply points out that most mega-processing companies have thousands of employees and sales reps working for them.

Which means, just because a company got a "top" rating doesn't mean that the particular person you are dealing with is honest, competent, or has your best interests at heart. And that's because just about most processing companies leave it up to the rep or agent to set up pricing for what your rates will be.

Scary, isn't it.

Finally, a TON of smaller companies will work hard to get and keep your account, because they are honest and are business owners -- just like you.

What's more, most of these companies you probably never heard of simply because they don't have the deep pockets to compete with maga-banks (like Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc.) or mega-processing companies.

So what's the lesson?

Don't put your faith in a company just because ONE site reviewed them. There's just no substitute to doing a little homework.

The best way to protect yourself is to speak with a few companies or sales reps regarding your merchant account. Then you'll be able to figure out who is telling you the truth, and who is full of it.

Does that make sense?

How to Find the Best Merchant Account Provider

Are rates important?

Absolutely. However, it makes sense to...

compare for yourself a number of free merchant account quotes by clicking the link today...

That way you can speak with more than one person.

And if one person's offer seems too good to be true, and they are not willing (or able) to put it in writing for you, then you'll know just who you're dealing with.

After all, the key for finding, and choosing, the best merchant account provider starts with a little bit of research, knowledge, and then making an informed decision for your business.

Because when you get right down to it, it's your money...
