How to Choose a Connecticut Cosmetic Dentist
62
Are you searching for a cosmetic dentist in Connecticut?
If so, don't make the same mistake I made a few years ago after cracking a tooth... apparently while grinding my teeth while asleep.
Let me explain...
Finding a Cosmetic Dentist
My wife and I had just moved into a new home in a new town.
And since we didn't know too many people in the area, finding a dentist to fix my cracked tooth was difficult. So I turned online to see who was nearby.
Mistake #1.
I only searched for dentist in my town. Sure, no one wants to drive for hours just to fix a tooth, much less for a routine cleaning. But by expanding my search to surrounding towns I would have had more dentists to choose from.
In fact, the dentist I use now is in the next town.
So after getting a short list I simply called the nearest office to see if the dentist was accepting new patients. And that meant someone who takes my insurance.
Mistake #2.
Some dentists may not take your insurance. However, dental insurance never pays full price on most "emergency" dental work. For example, most plans are capped at some maximum benefit each year. And for work like crowns, etc. the overall payout is not a whole lot of money when you get right down to it.
The bottom line is that some cosmetic dentists will work with you, even if they don't take your insurance (such as Worthington Cosmetic Dentistry in Fairfield).
Finally, you'll want to choose someone who is personable.
Okay, I know this doesn't sound like such a big deal. For my cracked tooth, I ended up going to the who was closest to where we were living. And after the initial exam I should have walked out, because the guy was a jerk.
Was he a good dentist? Yes.
Was he an arrogant, obnoxious idiot who couldn't seem to understand why I didn't sign up immediately for $10k + of dental work after meeting him one time? Yes.
And that was mistake #3.
Get an initial exam from your new dentist. And you'll want to get a good feel for who he or she is, how they run their office, the dental hygienists... everything.
If you don't get a good feel, move on.
So what did I do?
After getting my tooth fixed I started asking around. Finally a few people mentioned the same name, and after one visit I knew I found the right dentist for me and my family.
